But read the fine print through the lens of pure, unadulterated paranoia. The patent describes an "apparatus" that transcribes your daily audio, tracks the tone of your voice, counts your laughs, registers your physical location, and catalogs "thousands of objects" around you—your books, your private messages, your newspapers.

And yes, it wants to know when you take your medication. "A happier emotional state associated with a particular time of day or at a time when medication is taken," the patent whispers. They want to map your brain chemistry, synchronize it with your environment, and package your clinical depression into a "novel data structure" they can sell to the highest bidder.

Meta’s official PR response is the classic corporate ink-squirt: "Oh, we file lots of patents that we never use! It doesn't mean we're building it!"

Don’t buy the lie. They want to get inside your chest cavity. They want to hear you weep in the dark and instantly serve you an ad for a discount Peloton clone and a bottle of generic Prozac.


THE CHINESE MODEL PANIC: CHEAP WEIGHTS AND RED SCARES

The state department is warns these models are designed to "reflect CCP ideology."

But here’s the kicker, the beautiful, anarchic joke of the digital age: Kyle Chan, a fellow at the Brookings think tank, pointed out the cold, hard truth. You can’t ban open-source weights. They are already on the internet. You can’t stop a developer from downloading a file from a server in Shenzhen and running it on a local rig. To try and ban code is to run headfirst into a First Amendment wall.
